Frequently asked questionsFAQ about the luggage tag with QR code and NFC
Answers about the digital luggage ID, NFC, notifications, location feature, Pocket Card and data security.
Why is a luggage tag with a QR code and NFC useful?
The digital luggage tag helps lost suitcases, bags, backpacks and children’s luggage to be identified and returned more quickly.
You can update contact details, preferred languages, delivery address, hotel or handover point online at any time – even after the luggage has gone missing.
What is the benefit of the NFC chip?
The integrated NFC chip provides contactless access to the same digital luggage page as the QR code. A compatible smartphone is simply held near the marked area of the tag.
NFC provides an additional access method if the QR code is badly scratched, dirty or difficult for the camera to read. The smartphone must support NFC and the feature must be enabled.
What information can finders see?
You decide which details are visible after the QR code is scanned or NFC is used.
- Multiple phone numbers and contact persons
- Email, WhatsApp and other contact options
- Preferred contact languages and personal instructions
- Hotel, holiday, delivery or handover address
- Google Maps view of the preferred handover point
- Luggage photos and messages on the digital noticeboard
Do finders need an app or an account?
No. The QR code can be scanned with a smartphone camera; compatible devices can also open the page using NFC. The digital luggage page opens directly in the browser.
Finders need neither an app nor an account. An active internet connection is required to access the digital information.
How am I notified when the tag is accessed?
When the QR code is scanned or the digital luggage page is opened using NFC, the DynaTag platform sends an email notification to the address saved in your account.
The notification confirms that the luggage page was opened. It does not automatically mean that the luggage has been found or returned.
Is the luggage tag a GPS tracker?
No. The luggage tag contains neither GPS nor a battery and does not continuously collect the location of your luggage.
A person who scans the QR code or uses NFC can only share their own current location voluntarily. This happens only when they actively use the feature and give explicit consent.
Can I change my luggage details later?
Yes. Your personal account lets you update contact details, languages, instructions, luggage photos, delivery address and handover point at any time.
Saved changes are immediately available on the digital luggage page. You can edit them from a smartphone, tablet or computer.
What is the included Pocket Card for?
The Pocket Card in your wallet gives you access to your digital luggage ID without scanning the tag attached to your suitcase.
This is especially useful when changing hotels, touring or dealing with missing luggage: you can update contact and delivery details remotely while the tag is elsewhere.
How secure is my personal data?
Your data is stored on the Swiss DynaTag platform. You decide which information is visible after a QR scan or NFC access.
Anyone with access to the tag or a shared link can see the information you have chosen to publish. Other details remain protected. Your data is neither sold nor analysed for advertising.
Are there subscription fees or ongoing costs?
No. The purchase includes 5 years of use of the DynaTag platform. There are no monthly fees and no mandatory subscription.
After the included period, access can be extended if required for a one-time renewal fee.
What happens if the tag is lost or damaged?
Your information is not stored on the luggage tag itself. It remains available on the Swiss DynaTag platform.
On request, a replacement product can be linked to your existing digital luggage page, so you do not need to enter your data again.
